There’s no shortage of great things to do in Austin, Texas. Between the never ending live music and the delicious local food and drinks, there’s rarely a good reason to leave downtown… but I think one specific event this coming weekend should be enough reason to get every whiskey drinker in this part of the state out into the hill country: the Texas Whiskey Fest.
Over the last two years, the folks at the Texas Whiskey Fest have been growing their event into the premiere whiskey and cigar experience in central Texas. All of the major Texas distillers including Treaty Oak, Republic, Devil’s River, and more descend on a quintessentially Texas outdoor venue at Star Hill Ranch for an evening of whiskey tasting, cigar smoking, and live music.
This is their third year hosting the event and it seems like they’re really in the groove now. And what’s even better, the weather looks like it should cooperate: 70 degrees and mostly sunny, which is a great forecast for March in Texas.
I’m really looking forward to this event. It’s a great opportunity to taste a variety of whiskeys, sample new releases and find new favorites, and talk about the distilling processes with the distillers themselves. Tickets are still available if you’re anywhere near Austin — I’ll see you there!
